Kelly was cast in the principal role of Megan and Carlos in the supporting role of Biscuit.

The drama is based on a true story in which a black Vietname-era veteran is allegedly murdered by a local white businessman who is later exonerated. The plot focuses on the role of a local high school teacher and the civil unrest that followed the acquittal.

Lucas auditioned on tape, had a call-back in Tennessee, and was flown to Los Angeles for a screen test with Miley. After a day of meetings with producers and directors, Lucas was booked, sent straight to wardrobe, and had publicity photos taken which will appear in the trades. Production starts in May!
